In 2021 JG was contracted by the Montana Healthcare Foundation (MHCF) to provide technical assistance to sites and to create a data dashboard that supports the Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH) Initiative grantee data collection, reporting, and analysis. MHCF is based in Bozeman, MT and is the state’s largest health-focused, private foundation. The IBH Initiative enables primary care providers to care for patient’s physical, behavioral and mental health needs under one roof by offering screening and prompt care for issues such as depression, anxiety and substance abuse. The initiative has helped integrate behavioral health services into 66 primary care settings across the state. By the end of 2022 nearly 80% of adult and pediatric Medicaid patients had access to integrated care through a clinic funded by the IBH initiative. Furthermore, of the clients who responded to interim and final reports distributed to sites supported by IBH in the first half of 2023, 91% reported being satisfied or very satisfied with the experience and support from MHCF and JG staff.
Through data collection, reporting and analysis, JG has continued to deliver actionable information that providers and clinic managers can readily use and apply. During year two of contracted work for the IBH Initiative, JG was able to identify necessary changes and implement better strategies for working with sites. The following questions are used to guide the data available via the dashboard:
•Is the site reaching their screening frequency goals?
•How much of the clinical population is at risk for depression, anxiety, and substance use?
•Are at-risk individuals improving overall?
•Are at-risk individuals receiving referrals to behavioral health and follow-up screens?
•Are there missed opportunities where an at-risk individual could or should have been screened again?
Sites access their data through the Integrated Behavioral Health Dashboard, shown below.
