Tara recently completed her Master of Public Health in health equity at Boston University after nearly two decades of teaching math and statistics in high schools, community colleges, and a correctional facility. Her passion for public health stems from her desire to serve her community and to make it a healthier place to live, work, and play. Her two primary areas of focus are food insecurity and LGBTQ+ mental health.

Tara grew up primarily in North Carolina and earned a B.S in mathematics from Centre College and an M.S. in mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She now lives in southern CA with her husband, two teenagers, and two cats. In her free time (ha!), she enjoys baking (especially sourdough), learning about and taking care of native plants, hiking, visiting all the best bakeries and museums in LA, reading, going to outdoor music performances, and traveling. She’s visited or lived in 42 states, but Montana is not one of them!
